Our Story

In pursuit of publishing her first novel, Mary Romasanta took all the appropriate steps in the path to publication. After countless query letters to agents and publishing companies she found how difficult it is for emerging authors, no matter how talented, to enter the industry—just ask Andy Weir.

Undeterred, she set off on her own and learned everything it took to publish a high quality book and distributing it to the masses, to making sales. Cover design, interior formatting, Library of Congress Identifies, ISBNs, copy right locks—oh my! As it turned out, writing the book was the easy part.

Buyers Beware

She made some costly mistakes, like paying hundreds for poorly written reviews that took the reviewers longer to write than it took her two write her novel. And paying thousands for professional editing services that required a complete do-over. She nearly fell trap to the glimmer of vanity presses—so called publishers that take advantage of an author’s dream of publishing by overinflating the cost and providing sub-par services.

A Sliver Lining

Through her journey Mary learned there were some things she could do better on her own—finally her Public Relations and Communication Studies would come in handy—and somethings she had to leave to the professionals. She was fortunate to meet many hard working people—editors, reviewers, content creators and influencers that are genuinely great at what they do, and they do it for a fair price. To these people, she vowed to work with in the future.

Lessons Learned

After publishing her first novel, Mary found herself approached with similar questions—how long did it take you to write the novel and how did you do it? She also heard similar stories of people who had a strong desire to publish their books—some not yet started, some completed years ago grown stale on outdated hard drives. Then something occurred to her:

  1. No one should have to repeat the costly mistakes she made when publishing a book

  2. It shouldn’t take having an MBA and dedicating countless hours outside of the writing process to put your story out for the masses
